Meet the Founder

Dwight Vidale is an educator, consultant, and founder whose work helps schools and organizations develop the durable competencies students need to thrive. He holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.A. from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University. A product of independent schools himself, Dwight began his teaching career through Teach For America and has dedicated the past 17 years to independent school practice and leadership, most recently as Assistant Head of School for Institutional Equity and Belonging at Collegiate School in New York City.

Through Beyond Fear, his consulting practice, Dwight partners with schools and organizations to strengthen both what students learn and the relational conditions in which they learn, practice, and grow. Because student development depends on adult alignment, he helps institutions build relational trust into their design—from supporting students and families to coaching new leaders and strengthening programs. He approaches trust not as a fixed trait a school either has or lacks, but as an institutional capacity that can be intentionally built, protected, and repaired.

As founder of the Young Men of Color Symposium, a multi-school, multi-city program that has convened students for more than 15 years, Dwight brings a practitioner’s rigor to designing the structures and faculty development systems that move schools from compliance to authentic culture-building. His work translates vision into measurable institutional change.
